Statement from the Chicago City Council Latino Caucus Honoring the Life of CPD Officer Krystal Rivera

CHICAGO – The Chicago Latino Caucus is heartbroken over the tragic death of Officer Krystal Rivera, who was shot and killed in the line of duty. We extend our deepest condolences to her loved ones, her fellow officers, and especially to her child, who now faces life without their devoted mother.

Officer Rivera served Chicago with courage, integrity, and an unwavering sense of duty. As a single mother and a proud Latina, she exemplified the strength and selflessness that define our community.

This loss is deeply personal. We mourn not only a public servant, but a sister, a mother, a neighbor, someone who showed up every day for her city and made the ultimate sacrifice.

We will honor her legacy and keep her family in our hearts. May Officer Rivera rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire unity, service, and love.
